the backyardigans

Aiden and Sky swinging in Nana Beth and Bobba Steve's neighbor's playground. What can be more fun than playing in a new (to them) playground? This playground was located in a neighbor's backyard. The kids that lived at the house were out of town so Aiden and Sky got the whole place to themselves.

Aiden has learned the "pirate dance" at school. It is just adorable when he does it because he takes himself so seriously as if the moves are all so carefully executed.

Aiden and Sky just chillin' with Nana Beth.

I didn't think Aiden would attempt to cross the creek but he proved me wrong within the first 10 seconds. He crossed the creek and started to climb up the bank.

Check out his dirtly little jeans....that's my rough and tough boy!

Aiden playing the creek that Daddy, Uncle Ben, Uncle Caleb and Aunt Meghan played in probably 25 years ago. Creeks can be an endless source of fun kids. I remember when I was little I could be occupied at the creek for an entire day - pretending I was fishing, throwing/skipping rocks, catching crayfish, horsing around in the water, testing my hand crafted toy boats, etc etc.

  1. If creeks could talk this creek would have plenty of stories to tell. What joy to remember my own children throwing rocks, building dams, finding frogs and turtles, and yes, getting very dirty. It's all the wonderful part of being a child.

"I can get over there," Aiden said pointing to the other side.

    "You can? How?"

"See that rock and that rock and that rock. You step on them."

The doubt must have shown in my face.

"Hold my hand and follow me Nana Beth."

"How do you know how to do these things?"

    "I'm a big boy."

"Right, you're three, I keep forgetting."

Aiden, with the grace of a dragonfly, you moved over the stones and never even got the cuff of your pants wet. Then you the grabbed roots and small trees and climbed up the hillside giving instructions to me the whole way. "Hold this one here and pull yourself up."

Ta-da-daaaa! We did it. Then turned around and did the whole process back to the other bank.

You make adventures fun and are so thoughtful to include people who are slower than you. I'll go creeking with you any old time.

    XXXOOO Nana Beth

  2. Oh, what fun you have with your Nana Beth and Bobba Steve. I am so happy that they know how to play with you and cherish each moment of time spent with you. Aiden, you and Sky are very lucky to have four wonderful, loving grandparents that love to spend time with you. All these memories you are making, will be with you forever. You are also lucky in the "Parent" department too. There is an old saying that goes something like this-
"The best thing a Dad can do for his children is to LOVE their Mother." Your Daddy and Mommy are the best parents too. Money can not buy all the great things you have in your life and always will because you have the best parents and grandparents.
