japanese steakhouse...the cool thing to do with kids

What could be more fun than fire at your dinner table, the chef juggling knives and balancing an egg on a knife, and "the super coolest of all" being fed like a seal.

a great communicator

She uses words like "extinct, magma, vicious, unlikely, and stupendous.

She says things like "our beautiful world" and "i wish all blind people could get better and see" and "it's just wonderful to have a big brother and a little brother".

She asks questions like "if soda is bad for you then why do they sell so much of it at the store?" and "Why does Bobba go to Afghanistan if his family is here?"

one happy family

...the report is in. We are one very happy family.

Aiden: Sky if you're not nice to me, I will "x" you out and put you on the sad list.

Sky: Mommy!!! Aiden's going to "x" me out! (screaming and upset)

Laila: Aiden, please don't "x" your sister, it makes her sad.

Aiden: But Mommy, if she's not playing nicely then I'm going to "x" her out!

Sky: No, Aiden!! You can't "x" me out. (throwing herself on the floor)

Aiden: You better be good then, Sky. (grinning and very pleased with his new found power)

he held her hand : )

They both did great at the dentist office. Not a peep from either one of them. When Sky looked a little nervous she put her hand out and I asked Aiden to hold her hand.

like mother like daughter

My girl ordered a salad for dinner...I love it! A dinner is not complete if it doesn't include a nice green salad.

Finally! He's been looking forward to this for a long long time.

eight months old today!!

Nicolas is eight months old today!

So what's he like at eight months?

First of all, he wakes up very very happy. We hear him talking to himself in his crib for five or ten minutes. When he grows impatient with the waiting, I go into the nursery to get him. He always has the biggest, sweetest smile on his face. As soon as he sees one of us he starts laughing, kicking, screaming, and rolling over. No doubt about it, he is a very very active little boy.

He loves to watch his sister perform. She signs and dances for him. The other day she was singing Bruno Mars' Grenade to him. He also relishes Sky's kisses...he smiles at her, he giggles, he grabs her faces and tries to eat her up, he grabs her her (ouch! it's a good thing she's understanding!) and he's constantly looking around the room for her.

He loves oatmeal.....oatmeal with apples and cinnamon. He also likes turkey, chicken, and fish (salmon and tilapia). But without a doubt, bread "naan" is his favorite. He could eat an adult portion of naan. He also loves bananas and could eat a whole banana in one sitting.
