popsicles!

Nothing beats a popsicle after a long, lazy, Sunday afternoon nap.

I wonder sometimes what memories will stick with Aiden and Sky as they grow older. For me, I seem to remember the simple things like warming up outside after afternoon nap in a AC-cooled bedroom. I remember the scent of Flinstone's Fruity Pebbles cereal on Saturday mornings while watching cartoons. I remember drinking milk and eating Little Debbie snack cakes while sitting on my neighbors front steps. I remember laughing so hard at my brother that the milk I was drinking came out of my nose. I remember smelling dinner cooking as soon as I walked into the house after a long day of snow sledding.

Sky's favorite is "red" or strawberry kiwi.

Sky doing her impression on of Blues Traveler's "Runaround".

  1. When I was a little girl nothing in the world was better than spending the day at Lake Winnamaugh near my Grandmother Blazys's farm. My five siblings and I would turn to prunes swimming all day. We'd pile into the station wagon and begin the short 3 mile ride home.

The route was easy and always the same...except...for one bend in the road. If you took that Right it brought you Right into the center of Watertown, Right past Leo's Confectionary and HE sold twin pops. As we approached the turn we'd all get quiet and and count 1,2 3 then yell and do do mean YELL...RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT!

Most times we were ushered RIGHT home and my Dad didn't make the turn. Even though popsicles were not very expensive sometimes my parents didn't always have money, even for six. So we were disappointed but understanding and accepted it without further comment.

But the times that the RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT worked and Dad made the turn down Cherry Ave we'd scream for joy like we won the popsicle lottery. Then we got serious again trying to figure out what flavor we'd pick. We could never get ice cream bars, they were ten cents each. We only got popsicles for five cents but lemme tell you they were the best tasting things after a long hot day of swimming.

Sky, I was a red pop girl too, never purple, but sometimes green or yellow.

You two are making me hungry for one right now.

Aiden you are such a sweet brother to put your arm around your sister. You can tell she likes being with you and it's something you do very naturally.

  2. So protective of each other and so in tune with each other, it is amazing. I hope that it continues to stay that way as you both grow older.
