did he just say that?
Aiden: Mommy, can I got to the office with you?
Me: But today is a school day, don't you want to go play with your friends?
Aiden: No, I don't. I need to work.
Me: Work? You'd rather work than play?
Aiden: Yeah, I want to go to your office and work with some toys.
Aiden: Nicholas has big brother.
Me: Really? I bet he likes to play with his big brother.
Aiden: Why don't I have a big brother?
Me: Well, you have a little sister.
Aiden: I want a big brother!
Me: You can't have a big brother because you ARE a big brother.
Aiden: Then I can have a little brother?
Aiden: Mommy, Sky loves me.

Aiden, I am a first born in my family too, and I never liked it much that I didn't have an older brother or sister. Everything got tried out through me and my little brother was always allowed to get away with every thing. I believe they call that "Sibling Rivalry". There is one thing that a big brother always knows and that is that his baby sister loves him. She always will. One great advantage that you have is that you have a baby SISTER and not a baby Brother. Ask your Daddy what I mean-ask him if he remembers the very first time I ever met him. He got into a fight with his brother, Benjamin and Nana Beth was very upset with them.
ReplyDeleteYes Aiden, Miss Sharon is so right. Your Daddy picked a fight with Uncle Ben and I had to stop what I was doing to say, "No fighting!" They were not little boys either, they were big teenage boys and acting very dumb. Sometimes brothers do that and I still don't understand why.
ReplyDeleteI gave them "time out" to remember how to be good again. They remembered and shook hands and were very nice after that.
