Aiden and his buddy Aidin
I volunteered as chaperone for the first grade field trip to Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History. My job was to tour the museum with two assigned kids - Aiden and his classmate Aidin (pronounced Aideen). I got to ride on the school bus with the students and the teachers. It was fun to see Aiden in the midst of all of his classmates. He fit in perfectly...not at all the "I gotta have all of the attention kid" that he is when he's just with his family. He joked around with his buddies, he poked the kids sitting in front of him. They passed around some kind of toy (contraband on the bus). He teased and laughed at the girls sitting in the row behind him. He asked his teacher "how much longer 'til we get there about five times". From time to time he looked at me and winked and gave me our secret family sign for "I love you".
