happy holidays - 2010

We had another great year - our family grew, our company grew, and we took some great trips.

Just a few weeks ago, Aiden turned five, yes FIVE years old. We threw a birthday party for him and all of his friends at his Tae Kwon Do school. He's quite the "Tae Kwon Do kid" - he practices three days a week and he's on track to get his purple belt in about a month. That means he's half way to black belt, yes BLACK belt. Our little dude is going to be a black belt Tae Kwon Do kid as he starts kindergarten. He's growing up to be quite an impressive young man. He has an amazing sense of humor, he's extremely curious about everything, and he is full of energy. He's his his sister's best friend and his baby brother's personal comedian and bodyguard all wrapped up in one.

Sky is three and half going on six. In September, she started preschool and that's been a trip. Sky is all about her schedule. The first thing she talks about in the morning is her days schedule - be it school, gymnastics, Tae Kwon Do, reading, swim school, or whatever combination of things. She loves her activities and she stays on top of her schedule. While she loves to stay busy with activities she also loves to spend quite time at home with us or Teresa, reading books or running errands. But her favorite activity in the world is playing with her best friend Catherine (Teresa's daughter) who is thirteen.

Nicolas turned five months old just before Christmas. He's a happy, calm, engaged, and active baby boy. He's a radar for his brother and sister. He's head turns to whatever direction he hears Aiden and Sky coming from. As experienced parents, Adam and I are thoroughly enjoying Nicolas without all of the worry and anxiety of having a new baby in the house. We wind down every night with Nicolas on our laps after the older kids are in bed.

Our company, Platinum Solutions was acquired by SRA International. As of November, Platinum Solutions became SRA Platinum Solutions, a strategic business unit with SRA, a $1.5Billion, publicly traded (ticker symbol SRX) IT Services company with an outstanding history and reputation. We did not intend to sell our company. We set out about 6 months ago to make some acquisitions of our own. We talked to investment bankers and private equity firms, and in the process generated a lot of interest that finally culminated in a great arrangement with SRA.

Its really bittersweet. We have poured our hearts and souls into the company over the past 11 years, and it hurts to change the company. However, SRA has been a great partner and things are essentially business as usual for us, our employees, and our customers. SRA's larger size give us some great economies of scale, and we are finding a lot of opportunities to work together on bigger and better things than we would have been able to pursue independently. It has been a real roller coaster, and the next year should prove to be an exciting one.

Again, it was a wonderful year. We're so blessed do have each other and our family and friends. We wish you all a fantastic 2011.
