Recipe from Nana Beth
Scarecrow
Ingredients:
Long sleeve flannel shirt Newspaper
Bib denim overalls Straw hat
Pumpkin Wire
1-3 ½ -year old boy (Aiden) 1-2 year-old-girl (Sky)
1 Auntie (Meghan) 1 Uncle (Caleb)
1-Nana (Beth)
Have Sky model the hat before you attach it.
Wad old newspaper into a ball or have Uncle Caleb hold out a sheetof paper and ask Aiden, with his super power, much like Spiderman’s, to punch through the paper, then, wad it into a ball and fill up all the clothes. (At this point refer to the paper as scarecrow guts, not newspaper.)
Go to Good Will and buy bib overalls-$4, shirt-$3, and hat $1.
Go to Dollar General to get a plastic pumpkin.
Sew the bottom of the pants and the cuffs of the shirt.
Try to stuff Aiden into pants along with scarecrow guts.
Have a grownup punch holes in the plastic pumpkin and thread wire through to attach the head to the shirt and hat.
Before you put it up as a decoration you can tackle it, sit on its lap, or fill the jean pockets with squirrel nuts.
This recipe is tried and true and perfected over the years by Nana Beth’s own children.
There is no better $9 investment for a fun, scary, and homemade Halloween decoration.
