Dear Sky,
Today I called you on the phone to thank you for the little pink rock turtle you sent me for my birthday.
“How did you know I love turtles?”
“Because when we were playing in your creek you kept hoping we’d find the baby turtle that Nora found. You said you loved that little turtle, Buddy. We didn’t find it but you knew it was there and we’d find it another time.”
Well, that was exactly right. You listen so well and I did love that little baby turtle.
“I know everything about you Nana Beth.”
“You do?”
“Yes, ask me about anything you like.”
“Well, what is my favorite color?”
“Blue.”
Well, that’s pretty close to green so I said, “Yes! Now, what is my favorite number?”
“I think it’s four.”
Well, Sky you are four and that IS a great number. It’s only three off from my first favorite number which is seven so I said, “Yes.”
“OK, here’s the hard one because there could be so many different answers you’re never going to get this one. Ready?”
“Yes.”
“Who loves you so much she could just pop with 300 kisses all over the phone.”
“That’s you Nana Beth!”
“Exactly right, Sky Rossi. You DO know everything about me. And every time I see the pink turtle I’m going to kiss him and pretend it’s you. Ok?”
“It’s not really me, but you can pretend. He’s so cute.”
“So are you. I love you, Sky.”
“I love you too, Nana Beth.”
There couldn’t be a better present in the whole world then talking to you on the phone about a pink turtle. Thank you for the perfect gift, Sky!

ReplyDeleteSky really enjoys talking to you on the phone. Wait until you check your mail tomorrow and Saturday. Aiden and Sky have been writing letters and drawing pictures for you and Bobba Steve. They love putting their letters and drawing in an envelope and writing your address on it. They really take their time and try to get everything just right so that you'll lub it. ; )
