Kauai - day 1

We started the day with a visit to our favorite coffee shop - Java Kai in Hanalei.

While Mommy and Daddy got a tea/coffee at Java Kai everymorning, Aiden and Sky raced on the deck at the Hanalei shops.

Then we went to visit two old friends - Spotty and Blacky...two little dogs that lived down the street from the last house we visited. The two little dogs made such an impression on Aiden at the time (2.5 years old) that the entire island has been renamed to "Spotty's house".

Aiden loves to find "cool shells" on the beach.

Aiden and Caleb walking home.

Aiden playing in the river the flows into the ocean by the state park in Haena.

Aiden, the lifeguard scanning the beach.

Aiden chasing the wild chickens the roam the island....he'd really like "to catch one for dinner."

Aloha, people!

Aiden swinging from a vine in front of the "dry cave" by the state park in Haena.

,,,and not to be outdone,,,,Sky swinging from a vine like Aiden and Diego.

Sky was intrigued by the cave.

Aiden wasn't in the slightest bit scared of the cave. As a matter of fact, we had to call him back or he would have gone too far in.

The air was a little thin in the cave so they got silly quickly.

A view of the sunset from our back porch.

A view of the house from the beach.

  1. Maybe Aiden will get into spelunking before you know it. He's fearless about so many adventures there is no telling the lengths he'll go.

Then there is Monkey Girl swinging from the vine. There is no holding you back either Ms Sky.

I'm so glad you invited Caleb again with you. I know he had a ball. That's something he's wanted to do from his first visit to Kauai.

Adam just think maybe one day you can repeat it again with the whole family and the new Sh'Aiden too. Wow, that would really be an adventure.

Glad you did it safe and sound.
